While America’s oldest guitar manufacturer has previously produced a slightly oversized version of the Dreadnought shape with its D-45S Authentic 1936, which was inspired by an instrument from the C.F. Martin Museum Collection, the Martin Custom Shop Super Dreadnought (the Super D) is now officially the largest body size in Martin’s product line. The Super D’s internal air volume is approximately 20% greater than the standard Dreadnought—which effectively boosts the bass output and maintains accurate mid and treble frequencies—in addition to having a new proprietary bracing pattern to maximize tone and volume.
