Continue ShoppingSquier Bronco Bass Shell Pink
I had preordered this bass, expecting it to arrive at the end of November. Imagine my surprise when it showed up more than two months early! A friend who plays bass loves it and threatened to steal it. My first lesson is tomorrow--can't wait!!
I bought the shell pink model on speculation. I won't even open the outer shipping box. I'll need to obtain production numbers to determine how rare this may be in the future. In unopened condition, this could become quite valuable.
I'm quite amazed that an instrument like this can be produced for so little money. The meat is there, the poplar body really does help with the balance of this one compared to the stock Broncos. It's also very resonant, pluck a string and you feel it through out. Not neck heavy at all. The maple is a great cut, and the paint is nearly flawless. Some things I did upon receipt which I expected to do: -Change strings- Ones on there were actually surprisingly good, but it's my SOP that all my basses either get Rotosounds or Labella flats. Didn't know short scale Swing bass strings had baby blue silk windings at the end but they look great with the pink. -Filed the fret ends - They were by no means unbearable, but there was a little bit of sharpness to the fret ends, which was easily remedied. Any skilled shop could do this for you pretty quickly. To be expected from wood shipped halfway around the world. -Refined the finish on the neck- I have distinct preference for gloss on necks, and this is the furthest thing from it. Some may like that, but I needed to do something about it. So I went over it with multiple grades of micromesh and its much much better. I also replaced the knobs with plastic strat knobs, I think they look a little better than the beefy knurled ones that are on there. Plan on doing a few more cosmetic upgrades. The Tuners are "OK" but not great. Will probably replace those as they start to wear out. dooooooo it!
